    City of Hobbs promotes outdoor play at Kids to Parks Day

    HOBBS, N.M. — The City of Hobbs Parks and Open Spaces Department announced in a press release it will celebrate Kids to Parks Day on May 18.

    Kids to Parks Day will be celebrated at four beautiful locations with a fun-filled day of water and beach games, summer snacks and sports. The community wide event will be held at City Park, Heizer Park, Del Norte Park and Harry McAdams park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., said the release.

    “This is an event we’re excited about to kick off the summer and promote outdoor play,” said Parks Director Bryan Wagner. Wagner added the park day will have bounce houses, giant board games, beach games and more.

    According to the release, Kids to Parks day, defined by the National Park Service, aims to celebrate outdoor play and occurs on the third Saturday of May annually.

    All are encouraged to connect with their local, state and national parks as well as public lands through these events to “remote discovery and expiration in the great outdoors,” said the release.

    The release added this year will mark the 14th year the City of Hobbs Parks Department will hold the event and hopes that every member of the community can join them outside.

    Outside play promotes creativity, physical health. Motor skills, focus, social skills and reduces stress.
