    High Point woman in critical condition after being shot in head, man charged with assault, police say

    HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — A High Point woman is in critical condition after a shooting on Saturday, and a man has been arrested in connection to the shooting, according to a High Point Police Department news release.

    Around 5:45 a.m., patrol officers responded to an investigation in the 600 block of Everette Lane and found a 27-year-old High Point woman who had been shot in the head.

    The initial caller reported a suicide.

    Based on evidence at the scene, detectives with the HPPD’s Violent Crimes Unit were called in to investigate.

    Detectives arrested Trynarda N. Burns, 44, of High Point, and charged him with assault
    with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

    He was taken to the Guilford County Jail and given no bond.

    The victim is in critical condition.

    This is an isolated incident. The suspect and victim knew each other, police say.
