HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — Robin Lindsay is the type of leader who rolls up her sleeves and finds a way to meet a need.

Her problem-solving attitude is apparent in the multiple nonprofits that she has created that serve people and animals across the Piedmont Triad.

Every Snout Counts of the Piedmont

Lindsay is one of the founders of the nonprofit Every Snout Counts of the Piedmont, Inc . She and other members provide pet food, transport animals to the vet and conduct rabies vaccinations directly in homes and neighborhoods..

“I will always want to help an animal out of a bad situation,” she said.

Her work also includes rescuing animals.

“A lot of times you have some bad days,” she said. “You see some things that you’re going to take home with you, you’re going to be up in the middle of the night thinking about, but it’s those victories when you get an animal into a better situation that just gives you this adrenaline that you feel like, ‘I can keep doing this.’”

GO FAR

Lindsay’s impact is seen not just in the lives of pets but families and children too. Lindsay, a physician assistant of more than 30 years, is the founder of GO FAR , which stands for Go Out For A Run. GO FAR is based on the running program and fitness curriculum Lindsay created to address childhood obesity.

“I was really concerned about the health of our children,” she said.

Lindsay was inspired to take what she calls the “cookbook method,” which she used to train for her first marathon, down to a kids’ level. Through GO FAR, children of all abilities learn healthy habits and how to train for walking or running a 5-K.

“We’ve got the largest children’s race in the Southeast,” she said.

The program that once started in one High Point school is now in elementary schools, middle schools, and after-school programs across North Carolina and other states. GO FAR celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2023.

“We’ve served over 100,000 children in the last 20 years. It’s been amazing,” Lindsay said.

“It’s when you’re at the race and you see these kids come across the finish line and their teachers are tearful and their parents are hugging them, that’s very emotional.”

Fundraisers by Every Snout Count also support the children of GO FAR.

4 Paws Spay & Neuter Clinic

Lindsay is also starting a third nonprofit. 4 Paws Spay & Neuter Clinic , based in High Point, will offer low-cost services to help shelters and address the need in the feral cat population.

The Humane Society of Davidson County is leasing the space to the group for just $1 a year.

Lindsay hopes to have the clinic up and running this August.
