HERMITAGE, Pa. (WKBN) – The Shenango Valley Mall will be officially closing its doors soon.

After 50-plus years, it’s now time to give the mall one final goodbye.

Hundreds of people came to the Farewell event to share their mall experiences and shop with the remaining stores and pop-up vendors.

Later this year, the mall will be demolished.

The land will be reused for new stores and restaurants.

“The city wants to develop a town center concept where we’d have some gathering spaces for food trucks, four our night markets [and] our night festival,” said Mark Longietti, director of business and community development in Hermitage.

The official closing of the Shenango Valley Mall is May 31st.
