Get outdoors today, but keep the umbrella handy this weekend!

REGIONAL - This should put you in a good mood. This morning we woke up to clear skies all across the Columbia Basin and the Valleys and today is looking like a fantastic day. If you don't have outdoor plans yet, you'll want to make them for today because the rain is coming this weekend. The satellite and radar are showing that we are clear, but there are clouds starting to push into the western side of the state and that's what's out ahead of our next storm system. High pressure will keep us dry today, but that rain is not far off. You'll need the rain gear and the umbrella come Saturday and Sunday.

    TODAY

You'll need the shades as a lot of sunshine is in the forecast for today. The higher level clouds will be increasing throughout the day, which will eventually filter that sunshine out. It's still going to be a nice afternoon and evening for everyone with rain staying well off to the west. Look for temperatures in the low and middle 70s across the region. Great night if you want to sit and eat on the patio at home or your favorite restaurant. If you want to grill, the temperatures will continue to be in the low to mid 70s. Wind is also staying light today.

    OVERNIGHT

Couple of light rain showers start to push through into tomorrow morning.

    TOMORROW

Yakima and Kittitas Counties will wake up to light rain showers in some spots, but the rain chance increases as the sun rises. It will be cloudy and rainy in the Yakima Valley with temperatures in the upper 40s. Other locations will be low and mid 50s. Areas west of the Tri-Cities will be rainy and in the Tri-Cities through Hermiston and Walla Walla, there will be scattered showers. However, it won't stay that way for long. For Saturday, Sunnyside and Yakima areas will get rain. It's going to be a cooler weekend so don't forget your jackets.

Cinco De Mayo celebrations will be chilly and wet. Don't forget some rain gear!

    SUNDAY

The rain will spread to much of the region by Sunday morning, including the Tri-Cities, Hermiston and Walla Walla. We need this rain. The past couple of months have been dry and it's going to be beneficial. I think we're going to see a decent amount, at least half an inch in many locations. The foothills of the Blues and the Yakima Valley could see up to an inch.

We end up starting the week off on a cool note.
