Photos: McDonald’s raises $5,000 for schools through ‘McTeacher’s Night’
ONEIDA | McDonald’s of Oneida raised more than $5,000 for local schools with its McTeacher’s Night events during the months of April and May. Participating in the events were Burchfield, Fairview, Huntsville Elementary, Oneida Elementary, Robbins and Winfield. Each school took a different night, with its teachers serving as McDonald’s workers for a shift, and the school received a portion of the store’s proceeds on that night.
Kazee Hollifield plans softball clinic at Bear Creek
ONEIDA | Retired Carson-Newman University softball coach Vickee Kazee Hollifield is planning a softball and baseball clinic on Monday, June 17, 2024 at Bear Creek. According to Hollifield, the camp is a great place for your child to learn the fundamental skills of the game of softball and baseball. There will be players and coaches on hand to break down the skills for all ages and to be sure your son or daughter receives the utmost personal attention. Skills included are throwing and hitting, fielding, catching techniques, baserunning and bunting, and infield and outfield play.

CHS holds prom at Hidden Springs Farm
Claiborne High School held its junior and senior prom recently at Hidden Springs Farm near LaFollette. The kids enjoyed dancing along with music provided by a live DJ, catered refreshments and photo opportunities inside and outside the barn. ONEIDA | Derek Keeton knew that the Pigeon Forge team his team was tangling with on Tuesday (May 14) was good. The only reason the Tigers were playing on the road in the Region 1-A semifinals was because they share a district with Gatlinburg-Pittman, a team they narrowly lost to in the district championship game.
