Jail evacuation costs could add up fast for Autauga County
PRATTVILLE − The evacuation of the Autauga Metro Jail could wind up costing the county budget hundreds of thousands of dollars in unexpected expenses. Sheriff Mark Harrell evacuated the jail Thursday morning due to “environmental” safety concerns. The jail had 168 inmates. The facility opened in 2004 and has a capacity of 138.
Witnesses to homicide on Montgomery’s Eastern Boulevard speak out
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Pieces telling the story of Sunday’s early morning homicide still remained in a parking lot off of Eastern Boulevard in the hours afterward. Saturday’s weather was about as nice as it gets in early June for our area. Temperatures cooled all the way into the 50s in many locations Friday night. After a refreshing start to the day, abundant sunshine warmed temperatures to near 90°. However, the humidity was low, so heat indices were near or just below afternoon air temperatures. Saturday night looks mostly clear and not as cool, with lows in the upper 60s.
