Clearing Skies, Diminishing Wind Friday Night for Aurora Viewing
FRIDAY EVENING: It will remain quite windy through the early evening hours with gusts 35-40 mph at times. The wind diminishes tonight. We are watching for spotty showers and thunderstorms, mainly east of the Red River. A few of the storms could be stronger in central Minnesota, producing strong wind gusts and small hail. Temperatures have been mild and seasonable in the mid and upper 60s for most and low 70s for a few. Tonight, the arrival of a solar wind has the potential to cause a Severe Geomagnetic Storm. That also means the potential for Aurora tonight and perhaps into Saturday night, too! The better night for viewing will be tonight with clear skies and the strongest geomagnetic activity. The best viewing time kicks in after 10PM with a peak around 1AM to 4AM.
Two people injured in Richland County Crash
RICHLAND COUNTY, N.D. (Valley News Live) - Two people have been taken to Sanford Hospital in Fargo after a vehicle went off a road. The Richland County Sheriff’s Office says the crash took place around 8:23 p.m., Thursday, May 9. The driver has been identified as 21-year-old Gabriel Schroeder. According to the crash report, Schroeder went off the road on County Road 81, jumping the embankment with the intersection at 61st Street SE.
