With temperatures rising, more and more Wisconsinites are venturing into the Northwoods for a summer adventure. And no journey through Northern Wisconsin is complete without a stop at one or two of the area’s iconic supper clubs. We rounded up the best of the bunch so you know exactly where to eat.
Memorial Day Weekend in Wausau
The Parade will start at Trinity Lutheran Church on Stewart Ave. in Wausau and end up at the Opportunity, Inc. building on River Drive. The ceremony will be opened by the Master of Ceremonies Retired Army Lt. Colonel Ralph Sliwicki. The Everest and East Band will perform and military recruiters will help the Auxiliary place the wreaths. The American Legion, Am-Vets, Man of Honor and VFW will conduct the rifle salute. Pet Project: Meet Wilhelmina
WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - In Tuesday’s Pet Project, we meet Wilhelmina. Wilhelmina is a sweet Domestic Shorthair mix and former stray available for adoption at the Humane Society of Marathon County. She is 4 years old and has been at the humane society for about a month. She is described as a sweet and pretty laid back girl and would fit well in any type of home.

Madame Karkar, Central Wisconsin School of Ballet founder, dies at 85
Waltraud Karkar, known widely by her students and dance families as Madame Karkar, died Thursday, May 9, according to her family. She was 85. Karkar established the Central Wisconsin School of Ballet in 1969 with a vision to create the highest quality dance education program in the region. The school is now in its fifth decade and is spearheaded by Karkar’s son, Patrik Kasper, with award-winning programs that have touched thousands of students.
Learn about different cultures and music Tuesday night at Wausau Conservatory of Music
WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) -A Wausau music school wants you to come and learn about different cultures and varieties of music, and maybe find yourself a new genre. It’s called the World Beats: International Concert Series. You can go to the Wausau Conservatory of Music on Tuesday night in the Caroline S Mark Concert Hall, and hear a talented pianist play some tunes. This month’s featured musician is Rie Tanaka. She is a Japanese artist and was born in Osaka. She currently lives in Arizona but is known here in the Wausau area. She will be playing a few different genres from her culture.
