    HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Jed Zimmerman's double digit goals leads Monomoy boys lacrosse to win

    Jed Zimmerman scored 10 goals and dished out one assist for the Monomoy boys lacrosse team as they beat Bourne 17-5 on Friday.

    Jackson Rocco (two goals, three assists),  Max Barrett (two goals, three assists), Seamus St. Pierre (two goals, one assist), Izaiah Freeman (one goal, one assist), Joey McKeen (three assists), Aidan Stone (two assists), Braeden Darling (one assist), Dillon Chapman (one assist), Harry Michaud (one assist) and Jake Giorgio (one assist) led the offense for Monomoy.

    The Sharks' defense was led Jake Giorgio with 17 saves in goal, while Max Barrett, Braeden Darling, Max Ramler, Jackson Morneau, Cole Strzepek, and Emmett Giorgio also contributed.

    Charlie Seitz (two goals), Brett Lucier (one goal, one assist), Ryan Haden (one goal), Max Ridl 9one goal), and Sean Kelley (one assist) led the offense, while Max Beals had 17 saves in goal for Bourne.

    Boys Lacrosse

    Mansfield 17, Sandwich 8 : The Blue Knights (8-3) broke a nine-game win streak as Than Hunt had 13 saves in goal. Cole Rodgers (three goals), Dan Oman (two goals, one assist), Avery Richardson (two goals, one assist), and Sullivan Gaffney (one goal) led the offense for Sandwich.

    Mashpee 11, Sturgis 5 : The Falcons (5-11) snapped a four-game slide as they beat Sturgis (1-9). Michael Valois won 12 of 18 face-offs, while Maxx Smith (two goals), Jack Balfour (two goals), Dominic Matteodo (three goals, three assists), and Vinny Pinnetti (one assist) led the offense for Mashpee.

    St. John Paul II 11, Falmouth Academy 6 : The Lions (8-7) are back above .500 with back-to-back wins as they beat the Mariners (2-8). Alex Morin (four goals), Taylor Richardson (three goals, one assist), Jack Hyde (two goals, one assist), Finn Shortt (two assists), Kelin MacAleese (one goal, one assist), Ollie Affonso (one goal), Daniel Cordeiro (one assist) led the offense, while Maki Gordon had seven saves in goal for JPII.

    Barnstable 14, Whitman-Hanson 6 : The Red Hawks (4-12) ended a four-game slide with a victory at home. Doug Carr led the way with six goals and one assist, while Chase Field followed up with three goals for Barnstable. Ryan Woeller (one goal), Conor Cattabriga (one goal), Nolan DeVito (one assist), Ryan O’Donnell (one goal, one assist), David Abreu (one goal, one assist) also contributed on offense, while Ian Mulcahy had eight saves in goal.

    Girls Lacrosse

    Mashpee 14, Sturgis East 6 : The Falcons (5-10) snapped a six-game slide as they beat the Storm. Ciara Hendricks (seven goals), Sophia Morin (four goals), Claire Howard (three goals), Kai Christo (two assists) and Sky Hickey (two assists) led the offense, while Riley Thomas had 13 saves in goal for Mashpee.

    Cape Cod Academy 14, Apponequet 12 : The Seahawks (9-4) have won three of their last four games. Ella Bartolomei and Olivia Powers each had four goals and two assists, while Quinn Powers had three goals and played well at the draw for Cape Cod Academy.

    Sandwich 21, Nauset 11 : Quinn Anderson led the Lady Knights (15-1) with seven goals as they beat the Warriors (9-8). Avery Cobban (four goals, three assists), Kyla Darmon with (three goals, four assists), Elisabeth Statzman (one goal), Aubrie Schwager (one goal), Kolbie Darmon (two goals), Paige Morrison (two goals), and Abi Kinney (one goal, one assist) all contributed on offense.

    Dighton-Rehoboth 13, Bourne 3: Taylor Simard scored all three goals, while A J Fernandes had 14 saves for the Lady Canalmen (4-12).

    Upper Cape 17, Southeastern 4 : Adryanna Turner scored eight goals for the Rams (12-4) in the win. Jessi Girouard finished with five goals, while goalie Mary King had seven saves in net.

    Nantucket 16, Dennis-Yarmouth 1 : The Whalers (16-0) remain unbeaten with thier 16th straight win as they beat the Dolphins (4-9).

    Girls Tennis

    Falmouth 4, Martha’s Vineyard 1 : The Clippers (5-9) picked up the win over the Vineyarders (7-8). Geneveive Maranchie beat Laina Dubin in first singles (4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2), while Maia Ledwell defeated Leah Thompson in second singles (6-1, 6-0) for Falmouth. Alexis Christian and Marcella DePaul beat Sophia Balsas and Ellie Pennington in first doubles (3-6, 7-5, 6-3), while Sadie Inman and Phoebe Hodgson won second doubles (6-2, 6-4) over Ella Moran and Sophie Roads. Zoe Treitman defeated Gayatri Chaturvedi in third singles for Martha's Vineyard.

    Monomoy 4, Nantucket 1 : The Sharks (11-4) have won seven in a row as they beat the Whalers (7-6). Tatiana Malone defeated Joan Harris in first singles (6-4, 5-7, (10–1)), while Hanadi Rezk beat Lauren Cutone in third singles (6-1, 6-1) for Monomoy. Darcy Addison and Karina Khalsa defeated Chloe Marrero and Hannah Gerardi in first doubles (6-3, 6-4), and Madison Mahfouz and Cecilia Hand beat Sara Dusealt and Sulton Lebrecht in second doubles (6-4, 6-3). Lily Chibnik beat Lilly Gould in second singles (6-4, 5-7 (10-5)) for Nantucket.

    Nauset 5, Dennis-Yarmouth 0 : The Warriors (7-6) swept the Dolphins (0-14) as they snapped a three-match losing streak. Nicole Boyce defeated Kelsang Gurung in first singles (6-0, 6-0), Anjali O'Brien beat Olivia Boyer in second singles (6-2, 6-3), and Sophia Votteler won third singles (6-0, 6-3) over Tristin Bradford for Nauset.

    Faye Adams and Chloe Hand defeated Willania Thompson and Maddy Burgess in first doubles (6-0, 6-4), while Haley Jackson and Callie Murphy beat Maddy Stewart and Aimee Teague in second doubles (6-1, 6-1).

    Cohasset 3, Mashpee 2 : Mariele Henley won first singles (6-1, 6-2) over Ella Otfinoski, while Hannah Rogers defeated Liz Blanchard in second singles (6-4, 6-1) for the Falcons (8-8).

    St. John Paul II 5, Rising Tide 0 : The Lions have won 18 straight matches and remain unbeaten at 18-0.

    Boys Tennis

    Martha’s Vineyard 4, Falmouth 1 : The Vineyarders (10-3) have won five of their last six matches as they beat the Clippers (6-9). Caleb Dubin beat Thomas Ghossein in first singles (6-1, 6-0), Kent Kleeman defeated Quintin Hefferan in second singles (6-2, 6-3), and Kyle Levy won third singles (6-4, 6-3) over Jack Beardsley for Martha's Vineyard.

    Sturgis 3, Cape Cod Academy 1 : Sturgis (8-1) won their fourth straight match as they snapped the 12 match win streak of the Seahawks (12-2). Francisco Garcia Raya defeated Declan Livingston in third singles (6-1, 6-1), Colby Hall and Robert Muhov beat Connor Hall and Garret Wilson in first doubles (6-3, 7-5), and George Foster and Thomas Nutbrown won second doubles (6-2, 6-3) over Cooper Hall and Henry Daigle for Sturgis.

    Ayden Naydenov defeated Ben Bass in second singles (6-2, 6-3) for Cape Cod Academy, while the first singles match of Ray Zhang vs Ben Catalano (7-5, 2-6, 0-1) was stopped due to injury.

    Nauset 3, Dennis-Yarmouth 2 : The Warriors (10-5) swept the season series against the Dolphins (3-13). Lucas Wilson-Bevington won first singles (6-0, 6-1) over Max Mingo, Salvi Cacciols beat Landon Richter in third singles (6-1, 6-2), and Soren Jones-Carlson and Qwen O'Reilly defeated Aidan Karras and Ryan Clarke in second doubles (6-0, 6-0) for Nauset.

    Colin Carol won second singles (6-3, 6-2) over Jason White, while Oscar Turek and Michael O'Reilly defeated Tom Foley and Will Murphy in first doubles (6-4, 7-5) for D-Y.

    West Bridgewater 5, Bourne 0: The Canalmen (4-11) have hit a four-match slide with back-to-back home losses.

    Rising Tide 5, St. John Paul II 0 : The Lions (2-16) could not come away with the win at home.

    Softball

    Barnstable 15, Nauset 11 : The Red Hawks (3-12) have won three of their last five games after an 0-10 start to the season. Juliana Nordone (one double, one RBI, one walk, two runs) and Sara Ormston (two doubles, one RBI and three runs) each had three hits for Barnstable. Jazlyn Coyer (two RBIs, two runs), Annabella DiGiacomo (three RBIs, one run), Madyn Flynn (one triple, three runs), and Alana Harty each recorded two hits.

    Ellie Comier (two RBIs, one run), Lila Alger (three runs, two walks, one RBI), Katherine Connolly (one RBI, one run, one walk), and Naomi Francis each had two hits, while Molly Farrell and Cammie Rose each scored twice for Nauset.

    Wareham 18, Upper Cape 0 :  Lucy Pesta had the lone hit for the Rams (7-8) that stopped a no-hitter, and Amya Irving played well at shortstop.

    Falmouth 15, Dennis-Yarmouth 1 : The Clippers (11-5) have won four of their last five games as they beat the Dolphins (6-11) with 21 team hits. Rylin Briggs pitched a complete a game, gave up two hits, and struck out 12 for Falmouth. Kaylee Shaw (one home run, two triples, five runs, three RBIs), Christina Femino (one double, two runs, three RBIs), and Briggs (one double, two runs, two RBIs) each had four hits.

    Bourne 15, West Bridgewater 3 : Jadyn Morrell gave up five hits, walked two and struck out seven for the Lady Canalmen (7-10) win. Morrell went 2-for-3 (two home runs, six RBIs), Haylee McDonald had two hits and drove in two, and Olivia Meda was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI for Bourne.

    Martha’s Vineyard 22, Muniz Academy 10 : The Vineyarders (6-8) ended a four game losing streak.

    Baseball

    Sandwich 4, Middleborough 2 : The Blue Knights (10-6) clinched a state tournament berth with the victory. Matt Taylor pitched a complete game, scattered four hits, and struck out six for Sandwich. Ty Creighton had two RBIs and a double in the fourth inning that gave Sandwich a 3-2 lead.

    Barnstable 6, Nauset 3 : The Red Hawks (14-3) have won seven of their last eight games as they beat the Warriors (14-5). Eric Stanley pitched six scoreless innings, scattered five hits, and struck out six for the Barnstable win. Finn O'Donnell had two hits, while Owen Jones (one run), Anthony DiGiacomo (two runs), Jack Tarbox (one double, two walks, three runs), Reed Buckler (one double, two RBIs, one walk), Luke Harmon (three RBIs), and Sladen Johnson each finished with one hit.

    Evan Archer (one RBI, one run) had three hits, Ethan Beer (one run) added two hits, and Chase Beach (one run) and Mahoney each chipped in one hit for Nauset. Beach also pitched five innings, scattered five hits, allowed five runs (three earned), gave up three walks, and struck out 10 on the mound.

    Nantucket 11, Rising Tide 2 : The Whalers (3-12) have won two of their last four games after an 1-10 start. Henry Tejada was 4-for-4 (three RBIs, one run), while Eli MacIver finished 3-for-3 (three runs, one RBI, one walk) for Nantucket.

    Upper Cape 14, Wareham 4 : The Rams (16-2) won their sixth game in a row as Jared Coates and Nolan Roche combined on a two-hitter. Asher Graff and Patrick Acord each had two-run singles, Tyler Kutil had an RBI triple, and Nate Smith, Harrison Gargan and Mitchell Kirkland each had big hits for Upper Cape.

    Falmouth 1, Dennis-Yarmouth 0 : The Clippers (7-10) have won two of their last three games as they beat the Dolphins (8-11). Matta pitched a scoreless complete game, scattered five hits, walked one, and struck out six for Falmouth. Velesig, Scarpellini, Brody Palmer (one RBI), Inman (one run), and Tre'Chaun Days each had a hit. Gavin Desley and Alex Finn pitched well, while Jake Bohlin had two hits for D-Y.

    Abington 5, Monomoy 4 : The Sharks (10-8) came up just short in a good effort at home. Chace Robbins scattered eight hits and struck out five for Monomoy. Logan Miller, Gareth Voss (two runs) and Finn Hyora each had two hits.

    Martha’s Vineyard 9, Blue Hills 0 : The Vineyarders (4-10) won the first of the doubleheader with Blue Hills. Starter Axel Abrams pitched four scoreless innings, scattered three hits, walked three and struck out six for Martha's Vineyard. Lathrop Keene (one double, three runs) and Joe Mederios (one RBI, one run) each had three hits, while Wyatt Loughman (one run) and Hunter Johnson (one RBI, one run) each recorded two hits.

    Blue Hills 9, Martha’s Vineyard 1 : The Vineyarders (4-11) fell short in the second game of the doubleheader. Hunter Johnson (one run) and Tripp Arciaga (one RBI, two walks) had the only hits for Martha's Vineyard.

    St. John Paul II 14, Sturgis 1 : The Lions (13-5) finished the season undefeated in the Cape and Islands League. Brian Mancinelli and Drew Richards combined and allowed one run and two hits, and struck out seven for JPII. Logan Our (two runs), Brady Meyer (three RBIs, one run), Brandon Gomes (two runs), and Tyler Ross (four RBIs, two runs) each had two hits.

    West Bridgewater 4, Bourne 0 : The Canalmen (3-13) have lost six in a row.

    Boys Volleyball

    Randolph 3, St. John Paul II 0: The Lions (0-5) fell in straight sets (25-13, 25-8, 25-17) as they played their last match of their inaugural season. Gabriel Paiva (10 digs), Ben Franco (one kill, five assists, five digs), Cullen Lynch (three kills), Carlos Siguencia (six digs) led the way for JPII.
