City of Cortland seeking federal grants to improve living quarters at fire station
Officials in Cortland said there is a great need to separate the living quarters inside the fire station from where the fire trucks are stored. "Our living quarters are adjacent to the bays, so when [firefighters] come back from a response, they are bringing all those carcinogens back, and we need to get those away from the living quarters." Cortland Council President, Kevin Piros said.
Owner of exploded downtown Youngstown building given until Monday to deliver stabilization plan
The owner of the Realty Tower building in downtown Youngstown, which exploded two and a half weeks ago has been given until Monday to deliver a plan to stabilize the building. This follows a report from a structural engineer stating the building was in imminent danger of collapsing due to heavy damage to columns on the first floor of the building.
Tenants to get payout in local landlord’s Civil Rights case
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A settlement agreement has been reached in a Civil Rights violation case against a Valley landlord. The agreement between Joseph Pedaline and YLP, LLC and the United States of America was reached on May 28. A decree of the settlement was filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.

Boardman's Sheban Drive closing for two days next week

Demolition date of Coalburg Lake dam may be extended until next year
Hubbard Township trustees announced Tuesday that they may receive an extension to raise funds to prevent the demolition of the Coalburg Lake dam. Demolition of the dam was originally scheduled to begin June 30, but the extension, which is being considered by the State Attorney General's office, would delay the demolition by about a year and give residents more time to raise funds and try to save the lake and dam.
