Hart Baseball’s Dominance Earns Them A Shot At The Championship

In a 7-2 victory over Arcadia on Tuesday, the Hart High baseball team solidified their place in the championship game, continuing their dominance.

The game between the Indians and Apaches was a nail-biter. Both squads were tied at two apiece heading into the fifth inning.

Hart came to life in the bottom of the fifth inning and scored five runs, which ultimately sealed the game.

They’ve been playing lights out throughout the playoffs, beginning with a 14-inning 5-4 win over Simi Valley.

The winning run came with the bases loaded, and Michigan commit Brayden Jefferis stepped to the plate and hit a sacrifice fly, allowing Hayden Rhodes to score the winning run.

They carried out the momentum in Newport Harbor , beating the Sailors 1-0. Three days later, they beat Arlington 3-0 for their second consecutive shutout victory.

As the season comes to a close and the Division 2 Championships approach, the Indians are riding high on a 10-game winning streak. Not only is a winning streak at stake, but something even more meaningful. That is to send out head coach Jim Ozella as a champion as he steps down from his role following 25 years with the team.

Win or lose, it will be a bittersweet moment for Ozella as he heads into a championship game for the last time in his career.

The Indians are set to take on Moorpark (19-10-1) in the Division 2 CIF Championship  Friday at 7:30 p.m. from Lake Elsinore Diamond Stadium .
