Harrisburg, Pa. — A Pennsylvania man with an "extensive" history of domestic violence was sentenced to 60-120 years in prison for his latest conviction, according to Attorney General Michelle Henry.

The Greene County man was convicted of strangulation and sexual assault of a woman in Jackson Township in 2022.

Ian Nakonechni was found guilty in October 2023 and recently sentenced in Greene County Court. A jury found him guilty of felony aggravated assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, strangulation, and related felonies and misdemeanors, according to a press release.

The Office of Attorney General cited at least four prior domestic violence convictions against the 36-year-old Nakonechni in requesting a significant prison term from the sentencing court, the AG said.

As part of sentence, Nakonechni must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

“This defendant has shown a blatant and cruel disregard for the wellbeing of his partners, and this sentence puts a stop to his reign of domestic violence,” Henry said. “These crimes often happen in the shadows and can be very challenging for police and prosecutors, but the work of law enforcement in this case essentially ensures this defendant will never again be part of a free society where he has proven to be violent and dangerous.”

Pennsylvania State Police filed charges regarding the February 2022 attack on Falling Timber Road in Jackson Township. Nakonechni sexually assaulted the victim, strangled her, and beat her with a pipe and flashlight.

The Office of Attorney General accepted referral of the case from the Greene County District Attorney’s Office.

In October, a jury convicted Nakonechni, a repeat offender, of eight felonies and three misdemeanors, the AG said.
