Cadott Village Board - It’s too good a chance not to try for free money
By Ginna Young This spring, the Cadott Village Board and Library Board were made aware of a $4.2 million Flexible Spending Grant, that could be applied for, to fund a new community library. When the Library Board approached the village board about going ahead with applying for the grant, based on the architectural plan already in place for the Mill Street location, it was requested they look into other options.

The Medford track and field record book shows the program has never had a female runner that can match Meredith Richter. Her final meet as a Raider was one to remember. The University of Nebraska-Omaha recruit didn’t just re-set three of her school records, she obliterated two of them and, with the third new record, she repeated as the 800-meter champion at the WIAA Division 2 state championships at UWLa Crosse. With that title and her fourthplace finishes in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs, Richter earned three medals, giving her six state medals for her career, which is a program record, breaking Barb Kloth’s previous record of five.
Thorp softball making eighth trip to state since 2008
Thorp softball is back in the state tournament once again, making its eighth trip to the dance in program history, all of which have been since 2008. The Division 5 Cardinals went 21-7 in the loaded West Cloverbelt Conference that features powerhouses like Fall Creek and McDonell, both of whom are in Division 4. Sonnentag earns repeat title at State with the 400

Eaglets rescued after nest tumbles down during storm
Once a stopping place for a photo opportunity, a pine tree along State Hwy. 27 in Cornell, is now empty of its large eagle nest, after the branch snapped off during a storm May 21, and plummeted down the bank of the river. Two fledgling eagles peered through branches as they sat among the remains of their former nest, miraculously, unhurt, despite the circumstances.
