Cornell School Board - It’s important parents understand special ed

Oakleaf steps in to Cornell to provide a medical clinic
Nurse practitioner Kelsey Meyer, DNP, APNP, FNP-C, and her medical team, have joined Oakleaf Clinics, the largest primary care clinic in Oakleaf Medical Network, to create Oakleaf Clinics-Cornell, which opened May 1. Oakleaf Clinics, under the management of Dr. Michael Smith, took over the clinic at the Cornell location, previously held by Prevea Health.
Attorney clears Gilman district administrator, high school principal under investigation
As Gilman’s administrator is cleared of wrongdoing, the high school principal is under scrutiny and on unpaid leave as investigation is done into allegations against him. On Wednesday, May 8, Cheryl Ustianowski, President of the Gilman Board of Education issued the following statement: “As many of you are aware, current and past employees have filed a number of complaints alleging that administrators in the Gilman School District were creating a hostile work environment. Attorney Justin Andrews conducted an independent investigation. Attorney Andrews completed his investigation, finding any claims against Superintendent Leipart unsubstantiated, and reported his findings to the Board of Education at its April meeting. At the Board’s direction both the accusers and the accused have been advised of the findings of Attorney Andrews’ investigation and the Board’s responses.
Arrest warrant issued for Ladysmith man
An arrest warrant has been ordered for a Ladysmith man accused of resisting or obstructing an officer after his brother led a Rice Lake police officer on a high-speed chase through the city. Jacob J. Shimko, 38, failed to appear before Judge J.M. Bitney for a plea hearing on Wednesday in Barron County Circuit Court. The defendant has been charged with misdemeanor resisting or obstructing an officer plus two felonies of bail jumping, all as repeaters, and he pleaded not guilty to the three counts...

Chippewa Falls looking to replace all lead pipes in the city
CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) - Chippewa Falls is looking to replace all of the lead pipes in the city. The city currently has most of the public pipes replaced. Now this ordinance that’s being presented is for homeowners who may still have lead or galvanized pipes on their private property.
SpringFest springs up to support charitable causes
CHIPPEWA FALLS — SpringFest makes its return next weekend for two nights of music, as proceeds from the event will go towards helping community causes. “SpringFest started 15 years ago as a fundraising project for the Chippewa Falls Rotary Foundation,” said Hugh Crane, the event’s coordinator. “Bill Febry, who helped establish Oktoberfest, came to us and said, ‘If you’re looking for a fundraiser, do something that’s all about spring.’”
Mayor voices city support for library
The Stanley Common Council is firmly behind the D.R. Moon Memorial Library—and the mayor is on record about it. Plans unveiled for inclusive playground in Stanley
STANLEY, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A new playground is in the works at Stanley’s Chapman Park. These are the renderings for an inclusive playground. The Stanley Community Association says it will include a rubber ground cover and ramps for those using mobility devices. A splash pad is also in the plans for families in the rural communities to enjoy without having to travel.
