Kings County public health services to continue despite fire

HANFORD, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Following a fire to their facility on Monday, the Kings County Department of Public Health will continue their services despite the fire, county officials announced.

At around 2:30 a.m. on Monday, officials say the Kings County Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 330 Campus Drive in Hanford.

The fire turned out to be isolated to the Kings County Department of Public Health (KCDPH) and caused substantial damage to the Public Health Clinic, internal offices, laboratory, and an exterior shed, officials say.

Kings County officials say KCDPH services will be provided virtually for the remainder of the week as the department awaits further instruction from the building inspector.

Officials say laboratory services will be directed to partner labs like Tulare County Public Health Laboratory and the KCDPH is working to find a space for the displaced staff.

Various services like death and birth services are still available while vaccination services and various hybrid services will either be provided off-site or will be available as soon as possible.
