Driver killed in single-car crash in Jefferson over weekend
An unidentified driver was killed in a crash on Route 15 in Jefferson early Sunday morning, according to township police. Officers responded to the single-vehicle crash on the southbound side around 1:25 a.m. near mile marker 3.5, said Jefferson police Capt. Robert Bush in a brief statement. The crash occurred near the four-way intersection of Hawk Drive and Phipps Road, the truck entrance to Picatinny Arsenal.
Boonton Police Receive "Non-Credible" Calls of Explosive Device and Active Shooter
BOONTON, NJ - The Morris County Prosecutor's Office received a tip on Monday morning, through the RSVP-3 system of an alleged explosive device that had been brought into Boonton High School. Members of the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad, Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, and Boonton Police Department responded to the building. Boonton High School was placed on shelter in place as a precaution, said authorities. All bags were searched, and at the conclusion of the search, the shelter in place was lifted after no suspicious devices were found. Later Monday morning, around 11:18 a.m., a report was received by Boonton Police of an alleged active shooter at John Hill School. Members of Boonton Police, Mountain Lakes Police, and Montville Police responded to the school and cleared the building. The report was confirmed to be not credible, said police. The investigation for both scenes lasted approximately two hours and included the use of the Morris County Sheriff’s K9 Section.
