A pedestrian struck by a drunk driver early Saturday morning has died from his injuries.

Frederico Pedro Pascual, 52, was hit near Northeast Halsey and 92nd around 2 a.m. on Saturday, May 4.

He was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, including severe internal bleeding and head trauma, according to police records. Pascual was immediately taken into emergency surgery.

The driver, 23-year-old Nicole Land, remained at the scene but responding officers determined she was intoxicated and arrested her. She smelled of alcohol and told police she had been drinking at a bar before driving and that she didn't see the pedestrian until it was too late.

Land was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving and assault in the second degree.
