Annual Misquamicut Beer & Wine Tasting Raises Funds
The Wine Store hosted its third annual Craft Beer & Wine Tasting at Winnapaug Inn in Westerly on March 8. Suppliers and distributor representatives were on hand to pour tastes of fine wine and craft beer selections in the venue’s adjacent banquet facility, Venice Restaurant. Guests enjoyed food catered by the Venice team and danced to live music from blues band Ed Peabody and The Big Blue Thang and special guests Sugar Ray Norcia and Bobby Christina. Proceeds from the event benefited the efforts of the Misquamicut Business Association, a nonprofit led by local business owners whose mission is to promote events and maintain the Misquamicut Beach area, including the Road and Beach Area Cleanup Crew, as well as family beach events.

Angelini Wine Ltd. Brings Flavors of Tuscany to Connecticut
Angelini Wine Ltd. showcased Tuscan portfolio selections paired with cuisine during several wine dinners, as well as on local television news, in March. Three wine dinners were hosted by Strega in Milford, La Marea Ristorante in Old Saybrook and South Bay in Fairfield, each featuring special guest Salvatore Ferragamo Jr. of Il Borro Wines. Ferragamo led guests through courses inspired by the flavors of Tuscany, expertly paired with organic Tuscan wines. The highlighted wine pairings ranged from Il Borro Borrigiano, Pian di Nova, Sparkling Rosé, Chardonnay and the iconic Super Tuscan Red, among offerings. During the winemaker’s visit, Angelini Wines Ltd. and Ferragamo were featured on WFSB-TV Channel 3 Eyewitness News “Great Day Connecticut” on its recurring #winewednesday segment. Marcy Jones interviewed Ferragamo to learn more about the Ferragamo family’s wine and take viewers on a virtual Tuscan journey at the Saybrook Point Resort & Marina, where the segment was shot.
