A lot is happening in Groesbeck, from graduation ceremonies to community news and even elections, there's a flurry of activity.
For those attending the GHS graduation, it's essential to mark May 24, 8:00 p.m. on the calendar at Groesbeck High Football field.
The Graduation Supplement in the Groesbeck Journal on May 23 will offer more details and heartfelt messages for the graduates.
Before the big day, there are several events leading up to graduation worth attending. Class Night on May 16 at 6:00 p.m. in the GHS Auditorium promises to be a special evening recognizing seniors and awarding scholarships. The baccalaureate services will be on May 19 at 3:00 p.m. in the GHS Auditorium providing a more solemn and reflective occasion before the celebratory graduation ceremony.

The flooding incident at the historic Groesbeck Journal building has moved the Journal to the temporary location of the Groesbeck Convention Center. Thank you to the City of Groesbeck for offering space during this challenging time.
The damage to the building's floors is significant, and the repairs will require both time and financial resources. It's heartening to see efforts underway to raise funds to support the restoration of this beloved landmark. Donations from community members can make a substantial difference in expediting the repair process and preserving a piece of Groesbeck's history. The fundraising initiatives such as the raffle for a cooler of drinks (tickets are available at the Journal) and a tee-shirt fundraiser hosted by Diamonds and Dust provide tangible ways for community members to support the cause.
By coming together and rallying around the historic Groesbeck Journal building, residents can ensure that this historic landmark continues to serve the community for years to come.

Lastly, the Primary Runoff Election, particularly the race for the County Commissioner Precinct 1 seat, is crucial for local governance. With early voting from May 20th to May 24th and election day on May 28th, residents have the opportunity to shape their community's future by casting their votes. Whether they choose to vote at the Limestone County Courthouse or the Mexia Civic Center, every vote counts in this close race between Kendall Funderburk and Jody Goodman.
