Two Upstate police officers are on leave after an incident while making an arrest earlier this month. The Greer Police Department responded the night of March 6th to a disturbance on Woodgrove Way.

Upon arrival, they encountered the suspect 45 year old Donald Parham who was on his hands and knees in the yard reportedly yelling incoherently. A woman who told officers she was Parham's fiancé' told officers he had been drinking moonshine and throwing stuff inside the house. She also told them Parham has bi-polar disorder and at times hallucinates.

Video from a doorbell cam nearby shows Parham become agitated with the four officers on scene, flipping them off and seemingly cursing them out. He made a move to get up off the ground and an officer then grabbed him and Parham was tackled.

The video shows at least one officer throwing punches as they detained Parham. The police report says Parham grabbed officers and tried punching them during the chaos. He was injured in the incident and was transported to a local hospital before being booked at the Greer Detention Facility.

One of the officers was placed on leave March 7th, the other a week later. Two other officers that were on scene have not been disciplined and none of their names have been released, at this time.
