Standoff in the Upstate ends with peaceful surrender

A suspect is in custody after a standoff in the Upstate Monday evening ended peacefully. The Woodruff Police Department responded to a report that a suspect pulled someone off a lawnmower and threatened them at knife point.

Before police arrived, the suspect Harold Leshaun Rice fled the scene and inside a home on William Street. After Rice, initially refused to come out negotiators were able to talk him into surrendering.

Rice came out and was taken into custody without incident. The charges against Rice have not yet been announced, as of the time of this report.
