One Gaffney man used a free video and photo sharing app to do more than, just share photos.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office says a convenience store clerk used INSTAGRAM, and other social media apps, to sell alcohol to minors.

The Sheriff's Office began undercover operations in March 2024 and focused on a clerk at the Hyatt Street Citgo gas station in Gaffney, SC. According to a news release, undercover buys were made between March 7 - May 1. Investigators said the clerk, Jitendra Rajgor, was also using Instagram for his illegal operation.

Most recently, undercover agents used the Gaffney High School prom as bait for illegal sales. It worked. According to a news release, Agents used the prom to see if Rajgor would sell alcohol and liquor for an after-prom party. The news release said Rajgor was willing to charge $700 for 23 bottles of liquor during an undercover operation on May 1, 2024.
