A Townsend man was sentenced to three to five years in prison last week after being convicted of rape, police announced Wednesday. John Zagwyn was indicted on a charge of rape in 2019 for raping a woman who was known to him in Townsend in 2017, Townsend Police Chief James Sartel and the office of Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan said in a joint statement.
