The Issue: Protesters replacing Harvard University’s American flag with a Palestinian one.

Harvard pro-Palestinian protestors replaced the American flag with their flag (“ A flag-rant foul at Harvard ,” April 29).

I don’t call this a protest or free speech, but rather treason. Hamas badly miscalculated Israel’s reaction to their invasion on Oct. 7.

Yet it was handed a gift in the voices of a generation with no allegiance to the US government but a desire to both rule America and hurt Israel. I’m all for deporting foreign students who promote Hamas and revoking the visas and citizenships of others who choose to do the same.

When segregationists protested the Supreme Court’s ruling to ban segregation in public schools in 1957, former President Dwight Eisenhower used the National Guard to enforce the law. But that was when America had brave leaders and was on the steady path to glory.

Somewhere along the way, the country took a wrong turn that has led us to President Biden. Now the Palestinian flag has replaced Old Glory at Harvard and Columbia University’s president is surrendering to treacherous students and Marxist professors.

What’s happening on college campuses is not lawful protected speech but rather trespassing, violence and impingement on the civil rights of Jewish students.

And the chutzpah of these protesters in asking for amnesty shows that these social-justice warriors are more concerned about their futures than their cause. If you are going to engage in civil disobedience, then you must suffer the consequences and wear them as a badge of pride like MLK Jr. If not, you’re just a phony.

When will we put a stop to all this hatred?

I suppose that most of these college students have no idea of what they are doing other than to play “follow the leader.”

Media can’t admit Biden’s disasters and campus hate, so they blame it on ‘conservatives pounce’

Seeing the Palestinian flag at Harvard makes me proud of both the kids who put it up and their entire generation that’s stood up for civil rights and against Israel.

I sent my daughter to Harvard and she’s been active in the pro-Palestine protests. Thankfully there is little sign of her or her fellow protesters slowing down.

The idea that protesting against giving lethal weapons to a foreign government is hate speech is so ridiculous that it makes me laugh. And calls by mainstream conservatives to deport protesters and violate their First Amendment rights are also proof that they are desperate to silence their opposition.

To quote Voltaire, “If you want to know who controls you, look at who you are not allowed to criticize.” It’s clear who controls us, and who we are not allowed to criticize: Israel.

It is nostalgic ignorance to compare today’s campus protests with the 1968 college demonstrations.

Students then and now believe education is a lesson in tyrannical oppression. But instead of being a part of the solution, now they create more problems.

These individuals who banter about peace and justice in the world are merely puppets for a political ideology. In fact, few students know enough to fully grasp the consequences of their actions. They are just following trends and looking for safety in numbers.

And if the press keeps giving these mavens of ignorance the recognition they crave, they’ll keep sitting on lawns in tents until the semester is over. Then they will take to outdoor cafes and beaches thinking that they are heroes for a cause — a cause that has never been about finding a solution.

Campus thugs at elitist schools like Harvard should be charged with criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, harassment, menacing and assault. They need to be jailed. Students involved need to be expelled and teachers fired.
