    Crime Roundup: Larceny charges filed against former Big Lots employee

    A man faces a charge of theft after he was caught on video taking various items, including a couch, from a Greenville big box store.

    The Greenville Police Department said that warrants have been obtained for Omar Johnson, age unknown, a former employee of the Big Lots at 609 S.E. Greenville Blvd.

    A spokeswoman for the department said that Johnson was captured on camera taking cleaning supplies, home goods and a sectional from the store either without paying or by severely discounting the items. The goods are valued at a total of less than $600.

    Warrants have been obtained which charge Johnson with larceny by employee.

Memorial Drive, 12:55-1:04 p.m. May 20: larceny from Speedway; case status unknown.

Fifth St., midnight May 18- 2:56 p.m. May 20: woman assaulted by unknown person at 13eleven; case status unknown.200 block Manhattan Avenue, 10 p.m. May 19-5:44 p.m. May 20: man assaulted by unknown person at residence; case status unknown.200 block Deck Street, 2:06 p.m. May 20: woman assaulted by boyfriend at residence; case status unknown.1200 block Battle Street, 7:40 p.m. May 20: woman assaulted at residence; case status unknown.

    The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office released reports with the following details and allegations:

    3200 block Misty Pines Road, 8:44 a.m. April 26- 8:45 a.m. May 20: fraud in the amount of $1,300 reported; case active.2109 Pactolus Hwy., 8:35-8:44 p.m. May 20: goods valued at $60 stolen from Family Dollar; case closed by arrest.

    Assaults2600 block Nichols Road, 5:35 p.m. May 20: man assaulted by boyfriend at residence; case cleared.
