GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — The 24th of May is right around the corner, which means it’s officially 25 days until the Greenville Yard Gnomes season opener.

The Yard Gnomes will call Guy Smith Stadium their home base this season. The stadium has been under renovation since this past winter with construction still in phase two, but is making leeway to opening day.

“From the construction part of it we’re also managing that, with Barry building group. They’ve been very well to work with. Very tight timeline with this project, and it will significantly be completed by May 24th,” said Don Octigan, director of Recreation and Parks.

Octigan added that along with construction comes maintaining the field for high school baseball. Parks division staff, Barry Building Group, and the Yard Gnomes organization are ensuring that fan experience will be top-notch once the season begins.
