Former inmates file suits against Miami Correctional Facility
MIAMI COUNTY — Thirty-one lawsuits have been filed to date against former warden William Hyatte and deputy warden George Payne Jr. of the Miami Correctional Facility. Filed by the American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana (ACLU) on behalf of inmates placed in the facility’s restrictive housing unit, the complaints call attention to living conditions at Miami Correctional – an all-male state prison established in 1998, 11 miles north of Kokomo.
