Jacksonville Fire gets new funding before fire season
Jacksonville Fire Department has received grant support this month, getting their fleet up to date before fire season. This support comes from the Oregon State Fire Marshall, supplying a fire engine to the station as well as giving a grant for staffing for fire season; they also received grant funding from the Pacific Power Foundation to supply the data computer that will fill that engine.

Local firefighters practice vehicle extraction as high-speed accidents become more common
MERLIN, Ore. – Rural Metro Fire and Illinois Valley Fire firefighters are holding a three-day training. Today's training: vehicle extrication. “We have a very large area that covers I-5, 199, Rogue River Highway. So we see a lot of high speed accidents,” said Captain Cody Breeze from Rural Metro Fire. “This training is really important for new recruits.”
