NWS to assess storm and tornado damage on Wednesday
The severe weather threat has ended for Tuesday night in our area. There were many wind, hail and even a tornado report in the local area Tuesday. The National Weather Service will review storm reports from today and then likely send out a damage survey crew to hardest hit areas on Wednesday.
City of Muscatine to host Almost Friday Fest on Thursday
MUSCATINE, Iowa (KWQC) - The City of Muscatine will be hosting their Almost Friday Fest on Thursday and some parking restrictions will be in place. The small parking lot on the downriver end of Riverside Park, playground area, will be closed to traffic starting at 7 a.m. on Thursday for Almost Friday Fest on the Muscatine riverfront. according to a media release from city officials. This is the first event of the season for Almost Friday Fest with Blake Jack + South 35 performing from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
EMS Child Safety Day returns to Muscatine on May 25
For the first time in four years the Muscatine County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) will welcome people of all ages for a day of fun activities and learning opportunities at the 2024 EMS Child Safety Day. The 30th anniversary of Muscatine County EMS Day event wraps up National EMS Week (May 19-25) and will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Blain’s Farm & Fleet, 330 North Highway 61, Muscatine.
Weed Park closed May 26 for Melon City Criterium
The City of Muscatine will close access to Weed Park at 6 a.m. Sunday, May 26, for the 44th running of the Melon City Criterium sponsored by the Melon City Bike Club and Harper’s Cycling and Fitness. Local traffic will be permitted into the park again on Monday, May 27.
United Way of Caring volunteers complete 23 projects in Wilton
Volunteers in Wilton completed 23 projects for local seniors and organizations during United Way of Muscatine’s Day of Caring, according to a news release. Day of Caring exemplifies Living United when volunteers join with local civic and community groups to connect with others in the community who need help, the release says.
