King Soopers shooting defendant has jury trial pushed back to September
The man accused in the Boulder King Soopers shooting had his jury trial pushed back to September after defense attorneys asked for another insanity evaluation. In November, Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, 25, pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to 10 counts of first-degree murder, 47 counts of attempted first-degree murder, one count of first-degree assault, 10 counts of felony possession of a prohibited large capacity magazine, and 47 crime of violence sentence enhancers in connection with the shooting in March 2021.
New space at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds gives new opportunities
GOLDEN, Colo. — The National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) has opened its new Adaptive Program Center at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. The group, based in Winter Park, provides therapeutic recreation, competition and adaptive sports for children and adults with disabilities. NSCD opened the space with a field day with more than 100 Aurora Public School students and launched its summer adaptive mountain biking program.

Byers Canyon Shooting Range to receive improvements, opening delayed
The Byers Canyon Shooting Range’s opening has been delayed because of “much needed” updates and improvements, Colorado Parks and Wildlife announced April 29. The work is expected to begin May 1 and continue through the middle of June. During this time, the range will be closed. This construction will add wider shooting bays with shooting benches to allow for additional capacity during busy fall months. Berms will also be extended to allow for additional safety measures.
