Boulder police arrest two after stolen car found at NCAR
Jun. 7—Boulder police arrested a man and woman after locating a stolen car at the National Center for Atmospheric Research on Wednesday morning, according to police. A 37-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman were found by Boulder officers inside the stolen maroon Toyota Camry while it was parked in the NCAR parking lot, at 1850 Table Mesa Drive, police spokesperson Dionne Waugh said in an email. As the vehicle attempted to flee, police deployed stop sticks, which the driver avoided by taking the Camry off road into a nearby grass field, resulting in the vehicle getting stuck on several large rocks.
Audit: Boulder detective failed to fully investigate nearly 50 cases
An audit finds a Boulder detective failed to finish work on nearly four dozen cases. 9News reports the Boulder County District Attorney’s office investigation said at least three of Officer Kwame Williams’ cases had enough evidence to move forward with prosecution, but the statute of limitations has since expired. The DA’s office said some of the cases involved sexual assault and domestic violence. Following an earlier internal investigation, Boulder Police suspended Williams for five days without pay and demoted him to the patrol unit. Man allegedly sets fires in Walmart to attempt theft
DENVER (KDVR) — The Westminster Police Department is trying to identify a man accused of setting fires in a Walmart and then trying to steal jewelry and money. The attempted theft happened on Tuesday night at the Walmart located in the 7100 block of Sheridan Boulevard. Police said the suspect set several fires in the store to distract employees while he attempted to break into jewelry cases and cash registers.

Longmont council restricts comment on certain topics
Joining the Planning and Zoning Commission, Longmont City Council will officially no longer hear testimony on certain topics until their public hearing. On Tuesday, council unanimously approved the second reading of an amendment to their rules of procedures giving them authority to prohibit public comment that concern upcoming quasi-judicial matters. The matter passed with little comment, aside from Councilmembers Tim Waters, who noted he preferred to vote on procedure change this way, and Sean McCoy, who noted his reluctance to support the change.
