‘It literally happened in a flash’: Goodlettsville RV park residents trapped in flash flood

GOODLETSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Neighbors in North Nashville said they had very little warning before they were trapped in flash flooding at their RV park.

News 2 obtained video from the Nashville North RV Resort Wednesday night.

“Now I understand the meaning of flash flooding because it literally happened in a flash,” Annette Armolt said.

Armolt said once she saw the rising water she immediately called the property manager in sheer panic. “Everyone was helping. There were people that left their stuff underwater so they could get other people out.”

“One guy that lived here saved four people within 45 minutes,” Darrah Workman said.

Workman and her husband took News 2 inside their RV Thursday after throwing everything inside.

“The water came out waist high, and we are trying to hook the RV up and everything around us is floating by,” Workman said.

News 2 spoke to the onsite property manager off camera who said they are aware the property is a flood plain, but they were not expecting this. The manager told News 2 they did send out a mass text to residents to take cover. However, Workman said she wished she had more of a heads-up about the flooding.

“If they would have said ‘Hey the creek is rising we could have got here and picked up all our stuff outside.’ I had a whole garden going and a bird oasis. And everything is washed away,” Workman said.

Because for neighbors like Darrah and Annette, this is their home.

“I’ve been traveling for five years so this is my only home,” Workman said.

“I told my husband, ‘I feel like we are going to lose everything, and I don’t know if we are going to make it out of this,” Armolt said.
