Obituary: Wayne Falkner
Graveside service for Wayne Falkner, age 83 of Cullman, will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Cullman Memory Gardens with Garrett Taylor officiating. Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Falkner passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024, at his residence. He was born August 20, 1940, to Jewel Theodore Falkner and Gertrude Falkner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Zelda Mae Falkner; parents; and brothers, Donald Faulkner and Franklin Faulkner. Survivors include his son, Michael (Mary) Falkner; daughter, Tina Falkner; grandchildren, Garret (Stephanie) Taylor, Donnie (Courtney) Weeks, Jennifer (Jeremy) Loyd, and Misty (Heath) Wadsworth; great grandchildren, Nathan, Carter and Bray Weeks and Brooklyn Wasilewski.
CPD’s Pounders joins Traffic Homicide Investigation unit
CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman Police Department recently congratulated Officer Zane Pounders for successfully completing Traffic Homicide Investigation parts one and two. Chief David Nassetta said Pounders will now be assigned to the CPD Traffic Homicide Unit. “The Cullman Police Department Traffic Homicide Unit is a specialized investigative unit that responds to and investigates life-threatening injury crashes and fatal crashes,” Nassetta said. Arno “Trey” Lamb, of Cullman, Alabama passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024. Trey was born in Hawaii on September 14, 1983, to Arno C. Lamb Jr. and Phyllis Ann Klaiber. Survivors are: Wife, Melissa Fowler; Daughters: Lacey Lamb of Murphy, NC, Braelynn Lamb of Sutersville, PA; Sons: Matthew Lee of Nahunta, GA, Alexander Lamb of Cullman, AL; Mother, Phyllis Ann Klaiber of Hartselle, AL; Father, Arno C. CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County District Attorney’s Office has a new assistant district attorney. Cullman County DA Champ Crocker recently announced the hiring of Kerry Baswell, who began the job May 17, 2024. “Prior to joining this office, Mr. Baswell served as an assistant district attorney in the 19th Judicial Circuit of Alabama (Autauga, Chilton and Elmore counties),” Crocker said. “It takes skilled personnel to clear the backlog, and I am confident that ADA Baswell is equipped to help us do that.” Baswell is a graduate of Cullman High School, Auburn University and Birmingham School of Law. When he isn’t working, Baswell enjoys spending time with his family and coaching youth sports. Baswell joins the other Cullman County ADAs, Tina Burgett, Nathan Brock and Greg Johnson. Allison Rice and Kallaway McKinnon from Cold Springs and Trey Thompson and Tyce Thompson from West Point were winners of the Elk’s Hoop Shoot competition, as well as participants in Southeast Regional competitions. Alabama man drove car into interstate guardrail, killed by 18-wheeler when he exited vehicle
An Alabama man was killed Saturday after he ran into a guardrail and got out of his vehicle and was subsequently struck by an 18-wheeler, state troopers said. Troopers said Martin Rodriguez-Ramirez, 29, of Cullman, ran his car into a guardrail early Saturday morning on Interstate 59, just east of Hueytown.
