Grand jury returns indictments for assault, robbery
A Christian County Grand Jury has returned several indictments, including for assault, robbery, wanton endangerment and more. Indicted for first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, third-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest is 57-year-old Merle Watkins of Hopkinsville. He allegedly tried to remove merchandise from a store on North Main Street in January and when confronted by employees, Watkins reportedly began struggling with them, using a knife to cut an employee on the arm, and then used a fire extinguisher to break the glass on the locked door.
