Woman wanted for murder in Moore County, deputies say
SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (WNCN) — The Moore County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a woman wanted by U.S. Marshals for murder. Deputies say 33-year-old Margaret “Maggie” Marie Davis is wanted for second-degree murder. They did not say when the murder took place or who was killed.
Sheriff announces arrests in drug investigation
Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields announced two arrests after a drug investigation in Taylortown. “On February 20th, 2024, detectives with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant in the 1400 block of Juniper Lake Road in Taylortown,” said Fields in a statement issued to Sandhills Sentinel. “During the investigation, detectives located fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, and multiple items of drug paraphernalia. The executed search warrant was the conclusion of a drug investigation.”

Commissioners discuss Land Use Plan update, education priorities
The Moore County Commissioners met on Friday, Feb. 16, to discuss the Land Use Plan update and review their previous meeting with the Moore County Board of Education. Police ID duo wanted after Aldi store thefts in Moore County town, officials say
ABERDEEN, N.C. (WNCN) — Police in a Moore County town say they have identified two people who they said were recently linked to thefts at a discount food store. Aberdeen police said Wednesday they were looking for a man who was somehow involved in a larceny at the Aldi at 1500 N. Board drops legal action
Montgomery County Board of Education will no longer pursue civil action against fellow board member, Cindy Taylor. Taylor, along with her co-worker Sherri Allgood is the director of Sandhills Cooperation Association, which borrowed buses last summer to use in running one of their programs. The school system routinely lets non-profits use the buses in the summer at no cost; however, the non-profits are to pay for the fuel they use, which amounted to $1,082.79. Last week the board received the amount in full from Sandhills Cooperation Association, leading to the legal action’s being dropped.

DELIVERY Friends and family of Alisha Watts came to Troy last Thursday to deliver letters to the district attorney’s office. The group is asking that Watts’ case be given the attention it deserves. Watts’ body was found last August in Montgomery County. Her boyfriend, James Dunmore, has been charged with her murder.
Candidates respond to live questions
The Montgomery County Republican party hosted a candidate event recently for Republicans running for a seat on the county board of commissioners and for those running for N.C. House District 67 seat. Candidates drew random numbers to determine which questions they received. No one saw the questions ahead of the event. Former Sheriff Chris Watkins served as moderator.
