IT looking for shining stars
Imagination Theater will hold auditions for its Holiday production of "Miracle on 34th Street" on May 18. Bring the family to audition together. "Miracle on 34th Street" is a holiday classic, adapted from the Twentieth Century Fox film of 1947. Directed by Peter Wolfe, co-founder of Imagination Theater, the production will boast 13 performances scheduled for Nov. 29 through Dec. 23. Actors will also be invited to participate with IT! in the Placerville Christmas parade on Sunday, Dec. 8.
Video shows moment firefighters doused car engulfed by flames on I-80 in Auburn
AUBURN – Interstate 80 was closed for a short time near Auburn early Monday morning after a car caught fire. The incident happened a little before 3 a.m. near the Bowman Road exit. Exactly what led up to the car catching fire is unclear, but video taken by Cal Fire's Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit showed that it was partially blocking some lanes. Due to the incident, first responders said both directions of I-80 were closed for a time. I-80 was back open after 3 a.m.No injuries were reported.

PLACER COUNTY -- The need to care for veterans is reaching an all-time high.The Placer Veteran Services, an organization dedicated to aiding veterans, is working around the clock filing a record number of claims.Over the past year, the agency has helped file more than 5,200 veteran claims, amounting to more than $11.5 million.
