Geneva man pleads guilty to assaulting children, more victims possible

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Geneva man pleaded guilty Thursday to sexually assaulting two children under 13 years old. Prosecutors say there may be more victims.

Jorge “George” Rodriguez-Merced, 30, was arrested in February after a child spoke about the abuse to a social worker at their school. According to prosecutors, he sexually assaulted two children multiple times over the course of more then three months.

Rodriguez-Merced pleaded guilty to two counts of course of sexual conduct
against a child in the first degree.

“Defendant took advantage of people who trusted him to sexually abuse their children,” Assistant District Attorney Kelly Wolford said. “Hopefully, defendant’s acceptance of responsibility for his heinous acts will help these children and their families heal.”

Prosecutors released a photo of Rodriguez-Merced Thursday and asked anyone who believes they or their child might have been victimized by him to contact the Geneva Police Department.
