Snider grad Brewer signs with Kane County Cougars

GENEVA, Ill. (WANE) – Snider High School graduate Michael Brewer will continue his professional baseball career with the Kane County Cougars, an independent baseball team based out of Geneva, Illinois.

The Cougars used to play in the Midwest League with the Fort Wayne TinCaps, but were dropped from the league when minor league baseball contracted following COVID. Kane County has been a member of the American Association, an independent MLB Partner League, since 2022.

A right-handed reliever, Brewer pitched for the Blue Jays Single-A affiliate in Dunedin, Florida last season. He went 1-4 with a 5.88 ERA and two saves, striking out 41 batters in 41.1 innings of work. Brewer played college baseball at Eastern Kentucky University where he began his college career as an outfielder.
