Your Stories Q&A: Don’t expect more Park-N-Ride stops for this year’s NYS Fair

We’re still about 3 months away from The Great New York State Fair, but questions about the 13 day event are starting to roll in to the Your Stories Team.

Viewer Question: Will more Park-N-Ride stops be added for this year’s NYS Fair?

This is a popular question the YS Team receives each year from our viewers. People ask the question, hoping Park-N-Ride options that were offered before the COVID-19 Pandemic will return, including stops in Camillus, Oswego and Cayuga counties and the old ShoppingTown Mall in DeWitt.

Since 2021, Centro has only offered 3 stops:

1. Downtown Syracuse transportation hub on South Salina Street
2. Destiny USA, Solar Street parking lot
3. Long Branch Park in Liverpool

Centro’s VP of Communications, Steven Koegel, said those 3 locations will once again be the only stops for the 2024 NYS Fair.

Koegel cited an ongoing driver shortage for the reason more stops will not being added this year. He also said the 3 locations were sufficient for the number of Park-N-Ride users last year.

“The state fair has expanded their parking and attendance has been down the past couple of years, so we’ve been able to handle the demand,” Koegel said in an email.
