GARRISON, ND ( KXNET ) — It’s a week to celebrate a place to have fun and learn, and the Garrison Public Library is offering more than just checking books out.

Library Director Malynda Kramber says they are a welcoming environment offering a lot to the community.

“We will have a puzzle sitting out for people to stop in and work on whenever they think of it. Like this last week, we have had people in and out of the auditorium, so the families have stopped in so it is just a nice option when you are trying to pass the time waiting for something to Ive something to do,” said Kramber.

If puzzles aren’t your thing, they offer a variety of crafts. The library holds craft nights for teens and adults twice a month.

“We are currently working on diamond painting coasters. Kind of a monthly theme or holiday theme and then once in a while we will throw in another craft. We have done journals we have done Easter bunny rope art,” Kramber added.

They have a Lego club that meets on the first Saturday of the month. For adults, they have a book club which meets once a month.

Kramber says they receive a lot of good feedback and appreciation for what they offer.

“And I think it does help that when people make suggestions that we try to incorporate some the suggestions just to help them feel like they listened to and supported by the library,” said Kramber.

On April 26, North Dakota author Lindsey Miller is doing a reading of her book “The Girl in the Lime Green Jeans.”

The first library was opened in 1896 in Grafton. North Dakota has a total of 99 public libraries.
