Fayetteville leaders are exploring the idea of building an amusement or water park in Cumberland County, with early planning discussions planned for next month. On May 6, the Fayetteville Cumberland Economic Development Corporation will present to the City Council information regarding the feasibility of building an amusement or water park in Fayetteville, District 7 Councilwoman Brenda McNair said April 15 during an interview broadcast on WFNC's "Good Morning Fayetteville."

Victim of fatal Spring Lake sports bar stabbing identified as a Lillington man
The victim of a fatal stabbing at a Cumberland County sports bar early Wednesday has been identified as a Lillington man, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said Friday. Derek James Frerichs, 37, was pronounced dead at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center following the stabbing reported at 12:11 a.m. Wednesday at Pyrates Sports Bar, 651 W. Manchester Road, off Bragg Boulevard in Spring Lake.
