HASKELL COUNTY – The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred Sunday morning in Haskell County. Just before 2a.m. on Sunday, a Haskell county deputy attempted to make a traffic stop at the intersection of Highway 83 and Highway 56, according to a media release from the KBI.

Softball Recap: Holcomb finds playoff glory versus Cimarron
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Holcomb had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Sedgwick County Zoo welcomes red panda
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A trade of red pandas with Garden City’s Lee Richardson Zoo didn’t make the Sedgwick County Zoo any less cute. While bidding farewell to Ravi, who came to SCZ in 2000, Wichita’s zoo welcomed a new red panda, 3-year-old CJ, from Lee Richardson. CJ will turn 4 in August and came to Wichita while the zoo’s Big Cat Trek was under construction. The zoo said it’s eager for its female resident, Sunsari, to join him. The two have already been introduced off-exhibit.

LHS Softball Closes Out Home Season with Competitive Loss
The Garden City Buffaloes topped the Liberal Redskins in softball Friday afternoon at the National Beef Sports Complex, but it was close. The Buffaloes prevailed 5-2 on a sunny Friday afternoon with temperatures in the lower 70’s. LHS scored in the first. GCHS plated five in the second. Elizabeth Mannel had three hits. Zoey Torres, Lexi Miller, and Taylor Harding had two hits a piece. Zoey Torres pitched five strong innings in relief allowing just one hit with three strikeouts and one walk. Garden City is 9-15 overall and finishes 6-6 in the WAC. Liberal is 6-17 overall and finishes 1-12 in the WAC.
