Driver killed after three-vehicle crash in Houma
HOUMA - One person died in a three-vehicle crash in Houma Tuesday night, according to Louisiana State Police. Police say the driver, who remains unidentified pending notification of next of kin, crossed the centerline while traveling north on LA Highway 659 before crossing the centerline, side-swiping one vehicle heading south, and hitting another car head-on.

Students from Terrebonne and Lafourche will have some changes to their school curriculums going into next school year. The Terrebonne Parish School district is replacing its math curriculum in August for kindergarten through eighth grade, and both Terrebonne and Lafourche are adopting a new social studies program for K through 8. Crews work to restore sculptures by reclusive Chauvin artist in Nicholls State garden
A reclusive artist's sculpture garden in Chauvin is being restored after vandals and storms have chipped it away. Thirteen people gathered at the Kenny Hill Chauvin Sculpture Garden, 5337 Bayouside Dr., April 13 to remove broken down cement benches, throw down fresh mulch, and fill in holes with dirt. Among them was Greg Elliott. He and two other professional restorationists are working to repair the damages to the sculptures caused by Hurricane Ida and vandalism, a task he said likely will take nearly two years.

NEW ORLEANS — A man charged with shooting and killing a Mid-City security guard was arrested and booked on murder charges Monday morning. Tirrell Gilmore, 27, was arrested by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office and booked with killing security guard Darriel King, 53, NOPD Chief Anne Kirkpatrick said Monday afternoon.
