    Galesburg shed fire causes $10,000 in damages

    One person was taken to a hospital after a fire in Galesburg yesterday.

    Galesburg firefighters responded to a structure fire in the 500 block of E. Brooks Street on Saturday, May 4 th at about 3:25 p.m. The response included all three fire stations and the 11 personnel on duty. Crews found a shed fully engulfed when they arrived and Battalion Chief Farrell established command. The Central Station crew pulled a pre-connected fire hose and extinguished the fire while the Brooks Street station crew assisted with the water supply and overhaul. The Fremont Station crew assisted with the overhaul. There was minor damage to the residence’s porch and a neighboring garage due to heat. One person was taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation and released. There were no injuries among firefighters.

    Damages to the shed are estimated at $10,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Galesburg Fire Department and Galesburg Police Department.
