With most Gadsden area high school boys and girls soccer teams taking spring break off there was little change in the Gadsden Times top 5 teams for boys and girls soccer this week.
Here's the top-5 teams, regardless of class in the Gadsden area, for results through April 16:

Gadsden Times boys soccer top 5
1. Southside (22-1-1)
Last week: 1, 2-0
Why: A win over Springville put the Panthers in the driver's seat for the area title and clinched a playoff spot.
2. Guntersville (19-2-1)
Last week: 2
Why: Guntersville fell for the second time this season to a strong Montgomery Academy squad.
3. Susan Moore (15-2-2)
Last week: 4, 1-0-1
Why: The Bulldogs picked up a win against Geraldine before tying with Westminster School at Oak Mountain, helping them move up in the rankings.
4. Gadsden City (15-4-1)
Last week: 3, 0-1
Why: The Titans fell to Fort Payne, spicing up the area title debate and gave them their first loss since February.
5. Boaz
Last week: 5, 2-1
Why: There's no shame in falling to Guntersville but the Pirates responded nicely with a solid win over Westbrook Christian.

Gadsden Times girls soccer top 5
1. Southside (20-6)
Last week: 1, 1-1 record
Why: Southside fell out of contention for an area crown with a loss to Springville but should still be in a driver's seat for the playoffs.
2. Guntersville (18-3-2)
Last week: 2, 2-0
Why: The Wildcats earned solid area wins over Boaz and Arab, solidifying their spot in the area title hunt.
3. Jacksonville (16-3-1)
Last week: 3, 2-0
Why: A perfect week has the Golden Eagles win streak back to three and helped them clinch an area title.
4. Gadsden City (10-5-2)
Last week: 5, 3-0
Why: The Titans rebounded from the Mountain Brook loss by winning three straight area games to take the crown.
5. Westbrook Christian (12-4-3)
Last week: 4, 0-0-1
Why: The Warriors are on a tie streak, which isn't bad but certainly not ideal this time of year.
