Boise Farmers Market set for first event at new home

BOISE — The Boise Farmers Market is getting ready to launch its Winter Market, but Saturday’s event is more than the beginning of a new season. Twenty-five ceremonial bell ringers will mark the start of Boise Farmers Market at its new, permanent home at Idaho Botanical Garden . The move comes after trying to find viable real estate in or near downtown Boise since at least 2017. “The Idaho Botanical Garden just made us a phenomenal offer, and we’ve been talking about this for quite a few years now with them about what that might look like and how we could fit into their plans,” Tim Sommer, Boise Farmers Market board president, told the Boise Weekl y in March. “So we’re pretty grateful for this coming about.” Idaho Botanical Garden is about 1.5 miles from downtown and about 2 miles from its previous location at 1500 Shoreline Drive, where vendors had set up shop over the past seven years. Executive Director Amber Beierle was at the new home Thursday, getting ready for the market’s big debut. City of Caldwell approves two commercial and industrial developments

CALDWELL — More growth is ahead of Caldwell as new industrial and commercial developments near KCID Road were approved in a landslide by Caldwell City Council earlier this week. Both applicants received unanimous approval by council members for preliminary plats that will expand the city’s efforts in creating a balanced ratio between its residential, commercial and industrial developments. Highline Industrial Park SubdivisionThe large industrial development, Highline Industrial Park Subdivision, will sit on a 123.69-acre parcel located at 11637 Linden Road, which is approximately 1,000 feet east of the intersection at KCID Road. The future industrial park is also near US Highways 20 and 26 and the Franklin Road Interchange on Interstate 84. Already in the area is the 214,000 square-foot future headquarters of CBH Homes, which was originally part of a larger 152-acre parcel, but had 21.82 acres split off at the northwest corner for the property. Of the 123.69-acre parcel, the development calls for seven industrial lots that range between 6.95 acres to 29.40 acres each, with an average lot size of 11.80 acres for a total of 83.61 acres. It also includes 3.28 acres that will be used for 27 common lots, and one 15.09-acre buildable lot located
