Fresno Pacific University announced Thursday that its on-site counseling (OSCC) center has been awarded a $25,000 grant by the Sierra Kings Health Care District, aiming to support therapy services for eligible students, children, teens, families, individuals and couples in Reedley.

Fresno Pacific University operates four counseling centers for individuals seeking assistance and therapeutic services for a range of issues from adjusting to school and life stress, to loneliness, depression and anxiety, anger and irritability, grief and loss.

The center is partnering with the West Coast Mennonite Central Committee Global Center, which will provide the center with office space at 1012 G St. in Reedley. The center provides educational, art and relief programming as well as a social space for opportunities for clients to learn more about their global relief work.

“We’re excited to expand our reach in Reedley and partner with SKHCD to provide therapy services to the community. This is a very encouraging opportunity,” said OSCC Director Angela Turner, M.A.

The grant will also fund three training sessions for Reedley community organizations that will focus on the impact of childhood trauma and families.

The grant, which is effective from July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025, was announced at an award ceremony April 4.
