    Good morning, Ottawa County.

You are likely to wake up to patches of frost, but expect a high of 60 degrees and an evening low 55 degrees. Clearly that patchy frost is going to be limited and cover the ground like that smiley sun patch covered the hole in your old blue jeans. Expect weekend highs in the high 70s.

Recent uptick in damaging activity in all Fremont city parks

The Fremont Police Department is investigating two incidents of vandalism to the new all-inclusive play park at Rodger Young Park, totaling an estimated $4,000 of damage to eight picnic tables.

“It’s very disappointing,” Police Chief Derek Wensinger said about the damage to the recently completed park. “It’s been quite a process, and there’s been a huge community push to get that park as nice as it was.”

Wensinger commented on the problems at the park.

“We have recently seen an uptick in unacceptable and damaging activity in all of our parks," Wensinger said. "The Fremont Police Department is planning increased patrols throughout all city parks, as weather gets nicer and usage increases. However, we need your help."

The article gives details about what the police were able to determine, based on security footage at the park, what they are doing to change the security situation, and the reward being offered.

End-of-week good news: lawmakers eliminate marital rape loophole

After a years-long fight, Ohio lawmakers voted Wednesday to criminalize marital rape in all situations. Critics cast the law as archaic and harmful to survivors.

Read the details of the bill, as written by Haley BeMiller, USA TODAY Network writer for the Columbus Dispatch.

The Ohio Senate unanimously passed House Bill 161, which eliminates a measure that protects spouses from prosecution against rape, unless the perpetrator used force or the couple lives in separate homes. It also removes the spousal exception for sexual battery and other sex crimes and allows spouses to testify against their partner in these cases.

The bill now heads to Gov. Mike DeWine, who is expected to sign it, according to his spokesman.
