New swimming pool in Hanover Township makes a big splash with grand opening
Summer is looking a lot cooler for residents in Hanover Township, thanks to the recent opening of the community center’s brand new pool. A grand opening celebration was held on Saturday, June 8 from noon to 4 p.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony at noon. Hanover Township Community Center Recreation Director Dante Terenzio led the ceremony. Additionally, the following were guest speakers: Board of Supervisors Chair Susan Lawless, Supervisor John Diacogiannis, Pool Advisory Board member and Recreation Committee Chair Mike Stasak, Hanover Swim Team Head Coach Evan Kocon, Stephen Kalamar of Penn Community Bank and Hanover Township Manager Mark Hudson.

Wilkes-Barre mayor, veteran at odds over Israeli flag on Public Square
A U.S. Army veteran from Wilkes-Barre is questioning Mayor George C. Brown's support for Israel because he can't fly that country's flag on Public Square. In a letter to the editor, Dino Ninotti said he doesn't understand why Brown’s administration authorized flying the Ukrainian flag on Public Square after Russia invaded that country in 2022, and has also authorized the raising of the Pride flag to show support for the LGBTQ+ community, but denied his request to fly the Israeli flag after Hamas attacked Israel in October.
